These are just some of the important issues facing our country and the world on a daily basis. But what is the one issue that seems to be at the forefront of all incumbents’ thinking? That’s right: Their own re-election.

Other problems come and go as they will, but getting re-elected is a regularly recurring event. If not re-elected, the incumbents won’t be there to deal with those other problems. And they need to be there because they are obviously the most qualified to deal with them....
